I left Glide and headed south for Jacksonville, OR. I had made arrangements to take a tour by Segway of this old mining town. I happened to be
the only rider for the afternoon tour, and since I had basically seen the town by way of an afternoon street trolley tour, the guide took me
off the beaten path along a hiking trail above the town (pictures below). Also took an interesting ride through the old town cemetery.

By early evening I was in
Monterey, where I took these
pictures of the "Moon Tree,"
just down the street from
Veteran's Memorial Park where
I spent the night (right in
the heart of town). It's a
Coast Redwood planted from a
seed that had been taken to
the moon!

I visited Cannery Row
in Monterey first thing in
the morning and toured the
aquarium for a few hours
before heading home.
On 46, just before joining I5, I drove through the Lost Hills Oil Producing area, where there are hundreds upon hundreds of oil wells.

I had not originally intended on driving all the way home but, what can I say? Only a few hundred miles to go!!!
